Hello, my name is Davin Tyrese Fearon, and I am a rising ninth grader at Arabia Mountain High School. Growing up, many of my family members who were athletes played sports like basketball and soccer. My dad always tried to get me into those kinds of sports, but I wasn’t good at soccer or really into basketball. At eight years old, I saw a cool football tape of a receiver named, Odell Beckham Jr. I then became interested in football, and my mom signed me up for a football program, called DYJ (Dekalb Yellow Jackets). Even though football was just a fun space, I didn’t’ discover my love for the game yet, because I wanted to be an FBI agent. In middle school, I discovered my passion for playing the sport while on the school team. Even though it was only flag football, I enjoyed doing it. I noticed I could get open and guard anyone on my team and my coaches would tell me that if I just worked on catching, I could be great. So, after my eight-grade season, my mom got me a trainer, and I noticed I was getting better each day working with him.
As a student-athlete, my dreams and goals are driven by a deep passion for the sport and a desire to excel both academically and athletically. I aspire to compete at the highest level, pushing myself to constantly improve and achieve personal records. Beyond individual success, I also value teamwork and collaboration, striving to be a leader and a source of inspiration for my teammates. I understand the importance of balancing my athletic dreams with my studies, recognizing that being a student-athlete means excelling both on the field and in the classroom. Ultimately, my goals are to make a positive impact on my team, my school, and my life. I dream of one day making it to the NFL and playing on the big screen with my friend, Jalani Quaterman.
My plan to accomplish this dream is to maintain great academics and continue my training to sharpen my skills. I will use every opportunity/opportunities I get to make it to the next level of football. I will learn from each mistake I make and grow as a person and player on the field. I will also develop positive relationships with my coaches, teammates, and mentors, building a network of support and guidance that will help me navigate challenges and setbacks. I will grow physically and mentally in order to make it to the next level. In conclusion, I will be myself and not change for no one unless for the better.
One day after practice, I was speaking with my son and a teammate of his. We were discussing when we would get together after practice and what we were going to work on. Davin was standing close to them and immediately he asked if he could join us. Needless to say, I was very taken with this young man for showing a serious interest in wanting extra work.
