There’s something powerful about a young Black man who knows who he is, where he comes from, and where he’s going. And when he speaks with that power—unapologetically—it tends to shake the very rooms he walks into.

Shedeur Sanders is one of those young men.

Lately, I’ve been watching how some people have reacted to his confidence. I see how the media frames him, how critics dissect his words, how they try to twist boldness into arrogance. But let’s not be confused. This ain’t about his stats. It’s not about whether he’s a top quarterback in college football. It’s deeper than that.

This is about a system, a mindset, and a fear. A fear of a young Black man who isn’t just talented—but who also has the intelligence and audacity to speak with authority. They’re not used to that. And when they don’t understand it, they attack it.

They couldn’t get to his father, Deion Sanders—a man who’s worn boldness like armor his entire life—so now they try to come for his son. But let me say this: Shedeur was raised for this moment. That same strength that lives in Coach Prime is evident in his son. You can hear it in his voice. You can see it in his game. You can feel it in his presence.

Yes, the criticism will come. Yes, people will talk. But if you’ve ever had to carry the weight of being the “one,” if you’ve ever had to walk into spaces where you weren’t welcomed but couldn’t be denied—then you understand the path Shedeur is walking.

His faith will be tested. His choices will matter. But if he stays rooted in who he is and who God called him to be, there’s no limit to what he can accomplish.

I’m not a Tom Brady fan, but I’ve read how that chip on his shoulder from draft day fueled his greatness. He played like he always had something to prove. Maybe that’s what this season will be for Shedeur. A test. A lesson. A launching pad. Because if he handles this moment the right way, he won’t just prove them wrong—he’ll make them listen.

Let me be clear: He is not arrogant. That’s not the issue. The issue is that he’s confident, composed, and capable—and that bothers people who expect him to bow, break, or be quiet.

So to Shedeur, I say this:

Young King, I’m proud of you.
Walk boldly.
Speak with wisdom.
Play with purpose.
And never shrink to make others feel comfortable.

The Lord gave you a gift, and only He can take it away. There are enough evil voices out here tearing people down. You keep building. Keep shining. And keep showing the world what happens when purpose meets preparation.

We see you. We support you. And we’re praying for you.
